Elton John, the pop singer said that President Vladimir Putin called him in order to talk about gay rights. However, Kremlin is denying this conversation.

Monday, John wrote in a post: “Thank-you to President Vladimir Putin for reaching out and speaking via telephone with me today. I look to forward to meeting with you face-to-face to discuss LGBT equality in Russia.”

Putin’s office says that the singer hat it all wrong. On Thursday, Dmitry Peskov, Kremplin spokesman, said to reporters “That is not true. There was no conversation.”.

So, Elton John was a victim of a hoax call? Meanwhile, the post with Putin is till on Elton John’s Instagram account, accumulating hundreds of comments.

Elton John wants to meet Putin

Elton John is interested in discussing with Putin the right of gay people in Russia. ”I’d love to meet him.   I’d love to sit down with him and talk to him. It’s probably pie in the sky — but at least you try.” said Elton John.

In Russia, since 2013 the public discussion of gay right is forbidden and the human right group have criticized this discriminatory laws. According to Putin, the Russia’s priority is “a healthy traditional family and a healthy nation” but this doesn’t mean that they will persecute those “of a nontraditional orientation”.
